Members are appointed by the Governor, with the advise and consent of the RI Senate, who selects a diverse group of individuals with demonstrated expertise in their fields.  The private sector members comprise the majority.  Other sectors represented are education, economic development, organized labor and community based organizations.  The Directors of the Departments of Human Services, Labor and Training and the Commissioner of Higher Education are members by virtue of the expertise their positions afford.
